Bomb--Fall Final (Victoria Evans)
To create this image, I used tools such as the pen tool, gradient tool, shape builder, pathfinder, blend tool, ellipse tool, and more. I first started with the background. I created a rectangle, and then I added a gradient to it. I made the gradient radial and then chose the colors for it. Next, I created the black ring. To do this, I made a circle and then scaled another circle, a little smaller, inside of the original circle. Then, I used the shapebuilder tool to remove the inner circle which created the ring. Next, I typed the words using the type on path tool. To cut the letters out from the ring, I made the letters into outlines, used the pathfinder tool to divide, and then used the direct selection tool to delete the inside of the letters. Then, I made the stroke around the letters and ring thinner. Next, I created the bomb. I started with the ellipse tool to create the main part of the bomb. Then, I used the blend tool. I blended the bomb and a smaller lighter circle together towards the bottom of the bomb. I used the ellipse tool, again, to create a white circle in the right top of the bomb. I then scaled two more larger circles and changed the opacity on them. I used the ellipse tool to create the part of the bomb in the upper left corner and scaled a smaller black circle to go inside of it. I created a line, thickened its stroke, and added a gradient to it to be the wick. Then, I added another line with a gradient to go on the top of the wick. To create the light, I used the ellipse tool to make the middle circle and added a radial gradient to it using yellow and orange as the colors. I used the pen tool to create the light beam pieces and added a gradient to them, too. The hardest part of this assignment was cutting the text out of the ring, allowing you to see the purple background. The easiest part was creating the light because it was just making a small circle, a simple shape with the pen tool and then adding a gradient. I think my ending result turned out well.

Cupcake Corner Pattern
The picture at the top is the pattern I created for my cupcake packaging. The picture at the bottom is the original image used to create the pattern.
To create this pattern, I used the logo for "Cupcake Corner". The logo was created using the pen tool and the text tool. First, I removed the text and flower from the logo. Then, I tilted the the pieces of the cupcakes and changed the colors of the cupcakes. Next, I made the pattern with one of the brick patterns.
The hardest part of creating the pattern was getting the cupcakes positioned the way I wanted them. The easiest part was changing the cupcake colors. I think the pattern turned out well and fits "Cupcake Corner" well, too.

Personal Logo
I create this logo, I began with the pen tool to make the palette. I also used it to create the paint and the wooden and hair part of the paint brush. I used the type on a path tool to make "Victorious Designs" arched. I used the ellipse tool to make the hole in the palette and to create to gray part of te paintbrush. I made the outline of most things a darker color to add something interesting.
To create this logo I first began with the star tool. I inserted a five point star and then arranged the pionts where I wanted them. I made the star a blue that fades. I then typed a "V", "ictorious", and "Designs" using the type tool and I selected a different typeface for each. I used the knife tool to cut the tops of the "V" and I made the letters in "ictorious" outlines. This allowed them to be deleted to show the blue color behind them which adds something special. I positioned all the words where I wanted them.

Farmers Insurance Group Logos
To create the logo on the left, I first started with a red rectangle. I added another smaller, lighter red rectangle to the bottom corner of the orignal one. I, then, blended the two rectangles together. I chose red because it was one of the company's origianl colors. I next typed the company name. I decided to make the "F" larger to draw more attention to it and make it memorable. I used a typeface called "Aharoni Bold" for all of the words. Lastly I created the piece of wheat. To do this I used the pen tool to create the stem. Then I used the ellipse tool to create the little grains that make up the wheat. To do this I made an ellipse then converted its two end ancor points to make the points pointed. This created the grain shape. Next, I chose the colors for the grains. Lastly, I arranged all the grains to create the piece of wheat.
To create the logo on the right I first picked a typeface. For "Farmers" I used "Aharoni Bold" becuause I liked the boldness of the typeface and I thought the "F" could be turned into a good key. I made "Farmers" blue becuase that is one of the company's original colors and blue seems to be a trend for insurance company logos. I then typed the rest of the words, but this time I used red and black to add something different to the design. Then I added three dots, created by using the ellipse tool in between the black words. Lastly, I worked on making the "F" into a key. To do this I added a triangle to the "F" to make look a little more like a key. I used the star tool to create the triangle. I also, added a rounded rectangle using the rounded rectangle tool to create the bottom part of the key. I used the ellipse tool to add the little white circle at the bottom of the key. I used the rectangle tool to create a small white rectangle to cover up part of the second notch on the key to make it appear shorter. Lastly, I added a thin gray rectangle to the key and blended it in. I did this to add something special to the key.
I really like my logos and think they turned out well.

Extra Credit
To create this pass, I started with the image on the left (front side of pass). I created a gradient mesh of different purples and a few other colors. I put this mesh on the top and bottom of the pass. Then, I used the pen tool to create the wavy line at the ends of the pass. I also added a gray rectangle to the pass. Next, I began with the text. I typed up all the words and chose a typeface for each group of words. I arranged them on the pass how I thought would be best and creative. Last, I added stars to the background. I created two different stars. Then, I dragged them into the symbol panel and made them a symbol. I used the symbol sprayer tool to add them to the image. Then, I used the symbol sizer tool to make them the size I wanted them to be on the pass.
For the right image (the back side of the pass), I began with a light purple rectangle for the background. I added four more rectangles to the pass, one gray and one purple, at each end. Next, I typed the "RR" for restroom. I made the "Rs" two different fonts. One is a large, solid "R" and the other is large but has some open space in the middle. I chose this open font to give me room to add glyphs in the open area. I typed up different glyphs and made them outlines. Then, I positioned them inside of the "R". Next, I typed up the rest of the imformation and choose a typeface for them. I choose the same type face for "Oualline", because I liked the typeface and wanted to tie together the two sides more. Lastly, I added two stars and some small circles to the top of the pass.

Personal Expression #2
To create this image, I took all the steps described in Personal Expression #1. This is almost the same image as Personal Expression #1, but with less type faces.
Splat!
To create this image, I selected Grime vector packs for the splats and made them different colors. I also used the break line button to help in their creation. I took the splat shapes and then turned them into symbols by dragging them into the symbol's panel using the selection tool. I used the 3D rotate effect to postition the splats at the angles I wanted them. I also set the perspective. I used the text tool to type my name. I used the direct selection tool and the rotate tool to postion the letters of my name. The hardest part of this project for me was getting the letters of my name to rotate how I wanted them. The easiest parts were typing my name and creating the splats.
Personal Expression #1
To create this image, I used text tool, live trace button, mask button, expand button, rectanngle tool, gradient tool, star tool, symbol sizer tool, and the symbol sprayer tool. I used vector effects to make the picture of myself look the way it does. The hardest parts of this project for me was coming up with the words and arranging them. The easiest part was doing the vector effects on the picture of myself. To do this project, I first started with the picture of myself and made it into a vector image. Then, I deleted some of the unneeded background pieces of the picture. Once my picture was completed, I used the gradient tool to help with the pink background. I used the star tool and the symbol sprayer tool to create and get the stars in the background. The symbol sizer tool was used to make the stars larger or smaller. Next, I began to type words that describe me. I chose a type face for them and positioned them on the image. (There is also another one of these images, similar but with less type faces)

Vector Effects-Snowboarder
I thought that this tutorial was fun and very different from what we have been doing. So, I thought it was nice to learn some of these new tools. I used tools and effects such as the pen tool, live trace, mask, and expand buttons. I also got to experiment with patterns and opacity, which I thought was really cool. I used the rectangle tool to help in the creation of making a symbol to use as a stencil. I thought this was super awesome, and that was probably the thing I enjoyed learning most, from this tutorial, just because I thought it was really nifty and different. The easiest part of the project was starting the image and doing all the converting, deleting of pieces and changing the color of the snowboarder. I thought the hardest part was arranging the rectangular shapes in the background and making them look just how I wanted them to. It was just time consuming and tedious and I did it over and over agian.

Q:What are the steps taken to create a Gradient Mesh and what tool do you use to select the desired anchor points?
A:To create a gradient mesh, you must first make a rectangle. Then, click on the rectangle and go to Object>Create Gradient Mesh. This should create a Gradient Mesh for you.
To select the nodes you would like to change the color of, you would use the Direct Selection Tool. Then, you could change the color of them.

Pen Tool Personal Sign Project
Picture from: http://www.jamespegram.com/walt-disney-world-2011-part-1/
For my personal pen tool sign project, I chose to do the Walt Disney World entrance sign. The hardest parts of re-creating this sign was adjusting the bricks and adding color to the sign because it was very tedious. Creating all the shapes and lines with the pen tool was the easiest part for me. I thought this project was lots of fun, and I liked that we each got to pick a different sign. I think my re-creation of the Walt Disney World sign turned out really cool!

Las Vegas Sign (Pen tool sign project)
For me, the hardest part of re-creating the Las Vegas sign was being able to locate all the different tools available that I needed to use and just getting started on the project. Typing words that would resemble those in the original sign and creating the welcome circles were the easiest parts for me. I think my version of the sign turned out well. It is super neat that I was able to re-create the Las Vegas sign. I really enjoyed this project.

Pen tool practice
Learning how to use the pen tool was pretty diffucult for me. I did not understand why the pen tool made curves on its own when I wanted straight lines. Also, I had to learn that you can move your mouse to make the arc of the pen tool taller or shorter. The easiest things for me to learn how to do with the pen tool was creating objects with straight lines.

Color physiology is how colors make you feel. Such as, yellow may give the feeling of happiness or red the feeling of anger. In my quote, I used a pale pink because pink is a happy and positive color that went with my encouraging quote. I chose a very pale pink, though, so it would not take away from the quote itself. Also, I made the word "dreams" a light blue because I think it is a relaxing color. I used orange for the word "courage" because it is the complementary color of blue. I enjoyed choosing different colors for this project. It allowed me to creatively think about which colors would set the right mood or feelings for my quote.
Typography Test
I chose this quote for a couple of reasons. For one thing, I am a fan of Walt Disney and everything Disney. Also, I like this quote because it is full of encouragement and makes you feel good.
I added some color to my piece by making the word "dreams" a light blue. I chose light blue because I think it is a relaxing color. I made the word "Courage" orange. I did this because orange is the complementary color of blue. I made the background a pink because it is a positive and happy color which went well with my encouraging quote. I chose a very pale pink, though, so it would not be too much and take away from the quote.
I chose to use three different fonts to add some variety to my quote. I used the font Myriad Pro on basic words because it is simple and easy to read. For the word "dreams", I used a script font because I feel the font gives a feeling of fantasy and imagination. I used Old English Text MT on the word "courage". I picked this font because it looks very noble. It also reminded me of a time when there were knights in shining armor who were very brave and courageous.
To add some different shape to my piece of typography, I made the words "can come true" in a arch. I did this because whenever I hear those words, I think of the song that is played at the start of every Disney movie. I reminds me specifically of the part in the song when they play the music for the lyrics, "can come to you" and Tinkerbell makes the arch of sparkles. "Pursue" is diagonal to add something different and eye-catching to the piece. I also made some of the words I thought were important larger.
In conclusion, I think my quote turned out well and I am happy with my final product.

Evans_Glyph Monster
Above is the glyph monster that I created using Adobe Illustrator. To create this monster, I started by selecting different glyphs (letters, numbers, symbols, etc.) and changing their formatting. This allowed them to move freely and separately. Once I did this, I positioned the glyphs that would be the outline of my monster. Then, I filled in several areas with lots and lots of glyphs. I covered areas such as the paws, hands, horns, and hair with glyphs. I chose bright, pink as my background color because I felt it represents happiness, fun and is cute. These are all things I wanted my glyph monster to be. Some challenges I had to overcome while working on my monster were learning how to copy and reflect glyphs (such as how I did the outline of the feet and horns). I also learned how to use the "shift key" to select multiple glyphs and the "alt key" to move and copy the selected glyphs. Overall, I really enjoyed making my glyph monster. I think my monster turned out very well and cute. I liked that I was able to use lots of glyphs to fill in spaces and make things detailed and different everytime you look somewhere on my monster.
Above is the image of the monster I used to inspire me for the creation of my glyph monster. I chose this monster because I thought it was cute and friendly. Also, it was simple which allowed me to add my own personal touches and make it more detailed and fun in other areas. This image of the monster came from http://www.etsy.com/listing/70071857/cute-monster-3-applique-4x4-5x7-machine.

The Seven Elements of Design
The Seven Elements of Design
Color:
http://blog.childandfamilydevelopment.com/blog/occupational-therapy-in-charlotte/try-the-new-and-improved-title-wizard-for-great-title-suggestions-v1
Color is an element of design that can do many things for a picture. It can set a mood or tone. For example, if you use lots of warm colors, like red and orange, it can mean anger. To bring a relaxed mood, you might use blue.
Line:
http://planetgreen.discovery.com/games-quizzes/green-thumb-quiz/
Lines are a very important element of design. They can be formed in all different ways. Such as straight, wavy, dotted, and curved. They help to make up all different shapes and make a picture complete.
Shape:
Shapehttp://www.teachingideas.co.uk/maths/shapes.htm
Shapes make up figures. Underneath everything, basic shapes help create the way figures look. Different shapes consist of a different number of lines. In addition to lines, shapes are made up of a variety of number of points.

Form:
http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/Math_p045.shtml
The element of form brings dimension to a piece. Without form, everything would be flat and not very interesting. Form takes basic shapes and makes them more appealing to the eye. Form brings shape to life.
Value:
http://www.ebsqart.com/Education/Articles/Printmaking-Pyrography-Scratchboard/11/Live-Studio-Scratchboard-I/50/
Value brings contrast in a piece. Value is the range of color. It can help to show where items are located in the foreground, mid-ground or background of a piece. Having value brings attention to different details. If there was no range of value in a piece, you would not be able to tell items apart.

Texture brings depth to items. The appearance of an object's surface is the texture. Someone's eye would be drawn more to something that is textured than something that has a flat surface. Texture adds interest to the surface of an item.

typeography
Above is a quote that I took and changed the fonts, sizes and shapes of the words. I chose to make some words like "film", "music" and "theme" a little bolder and bigger to bring emphasis to them. I felt that these were very important words in the quote. I made the word "theme" in an arch shape, because it reminds me of a title on a play advertisement. I typed "fiction" in a script font because I feel script is a great font to represent writing. I made "progression" go upward to compare the appearance of the word to what it means and show an illustration of it. I made the words "moods and feelings" in a fun, decrotive font because your moods and feelings are hopefully happy. Lastly, I did "later" going up and down to bring a different shape to the entire piece of typeography.
The remaining words I made a little smaller and in a more normal and simple font. I did this because the words still need to be present and reconized but maybe are not as important and interesting as some of the other words in the quote.
I really liked this project because it allowed me to explore typography and all the different things it offers. I feel that my image of the quote turned out very well, and I was pleased with my product.

Ethics are basically a set of rules to follow. There are computer ethics which are a set of rules that regulate the use of the computer. They apply to the world of design because because rules need to followed about copyrighting and many other things.

It is important to have rules and guidelines for computer use. Although we may think it is safe, it is not always. One important computer rule should state that you can not post anything too personal or talk to strangers online. We may think it is no big deal, but there are people on the computer that should not have your personal information. There are many other things that should be included in computer rules. Examples of other rules should include items such as web filters, CPV viruses, inappropriate content, copyright infringement and more. Rules and guidelines are important when using computers to help keep us safe.

The principles of design tell a designer the best ways to create and arrange a page. The first principle is balance. Balance is the even layout or uneven layout of things on a page. More attention can be given to certain items depending on their layout. Next are consistency and repetition. These two principles keep the page looking familiar. This allows things to be easy to locate, and it is not all random. There is also contrast. Contrast brings attention to something because it looks different than the rest of the items on the page. Emphasis is another principle. One way emphasis may be accomplished is by making a word bold. This allows the word to stand out and look important. The last principle is proximity. Proximity deals with the distance of items on the page and where they in relation to each other. All of these items make up the principles of design.

Broadsided Poster
Picture from: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Houdini-Vintage-Broadside-Poster-print-photo-Palace-Theather-Magic-Illusionist-/150890541217#ht_2217wt_788
This poster shows many principles of design. The poster puts major emphasis on the words Houdini and Magical Revue, which are the most important words on the poster. This makes them stand out and catch your eye. The letters, especially in Houdini, are very bold and draw your attention to the poster. There are only seven letters in the word Houdini, but they are spread apart to take up the entire width of the poster. Also, the location and date are made bold to be very noticeable. The color of the paper makes it pop in comparison to a white paper. In addition, yellow would be very visible to someone from a distance. The poster is very consistent and balanced because the words are centered on the page. Overall, I think this poster is very bold and was made to get people's attention. It gets the most important points across by adding emphasis and color.

The picture makes me feel two different ways. The center and main part of the picture (the yellow circle) gives a feeling of happiness. I feel this way because yellow is a bright, sunny color. Although, the yellow fades to a red. So, it drains out the joy and happiness, in a way, because red is not such a bright, happy color.
I think a picture can effect your mood depending on what is shown in the picture and what colors are in it. Bright colors can make you happy, some colors my make you excited and others can make you sad or angry.

My First Week of High School
My first week of high school was great! My two favorite things during my first week of high school would be cross country practice and becoming more familiar with the new school building. I enjoyed cross country because I like to run. My coach thought I was ready to move up in mileage. Therefore, I was able to increase the number of miles I run each week. Also, when I first came to my new school, I was confused on where to go to find all of my classes and different rooms in the school. I had to look down several hallways, before I was able to find my classes. So, this week has been great, because now I know where my classes and other places are located in the school.
This year in Graphic Design and Illustration class, I am looking forward to learning how to use the computer more effectively and being able to do artistic things on the computer. Also, I am looking forward to making new friends throughout my four years of high school.

A Little About Me
Howdy! My name is Victoria! I love to draw, ride horses and be active. Art is something I really enjoy! I have taken art class at school each year from kindergarten to eighth grade, and I have taken after school art classes, too. Pencil drawing is my favorite kind of art because I can be very detailed with it. I typically enjoy drawing animals. Although, recently, I have been enjoying painting, as well. I like to paint more abstract things and landscape scences. I also love animals. I have three dogs (Brownie, Einstein, and Angel), one horse (Advocator), and a cat that is not technically mine, but I consider him to be my own (Simba). This past summer, I competed in a triathlon and a biathlon. Also, I have recently started my first season on the high school cross country team. I have one little sister, named Melanie, who is super awesome and outgoing. I am typically a very quiet person and my personality would be best described as an introvert. Also, I am a independent person and a member of my high school Student Council. I love being involved at school. These are just a few things about me. I look forward to sharing more thoughout the year!
